The Boyle and District Angling Club hosted the 8th annual Paddy Sharkey Memorial Cup on Sunday 21st March 2010 on Lough Gara.
In excellent weather conditions a total of 85 anglers took part in what is becoming a major angling event in the clubs calendar.
The Sharkey family made sure that every angler and spectator was made welcome and all enjoyed the hospitality from the catering marquee organised by and attended to by members of the Sharkey family.
On the day 58 fish were caught and successfully released back to Lough Gara. The presentation or prizes took place in Dalys bar bridge St, Boyle with the prize winners as follow:

1st. Joe Mc Dermott with a pike of 23lbs 9oz
2nd. Brian Rush with a pike of 10lbs
3rd. Tom Commons with a pike of 7lbs 12oz.
The club are now finalising last minute details in the lead up to the 18th annual Easter pike angling festival along with the celebrating the 30th anniversary of the club.
We look forward to seeing all our old friends and hopefully making many new ones over the Easter weekend and hopefully we will be blessed with pleasant weather.
