August 6th Open Competition for pike, Lough Nablahy

A very enjoyable day was had fishing these lakes, the worst of the weather passed us by.
Fishing was slow & everyone had to work hard to find a fish willing to take the bait.
In the end Tom Commons won with a pike of just under 7pd.
Joe Mulrennan took second with 6pd 5oz & Paul O'Donohoe got third with a fish of just under 5pd.
Paul did well fishing from the bank & landed 5 pike in all.

Martin Mitchell Perpetual Memorial Cup Results

The Winner for 2011 was Paul Wynne, who did very well in difficult fishing conditions, (the weather was great but the fishing very slow) to land a pike just under 10ld weight. Paul won a great prize sponsored by the Mayfly hotel in Foxford Mayo & also holds the Memorial Cup for the year.
2nd prize was won by Jim Clarke.

Summer Junior Fishing Competition

Gerry Mattimoe Cup for 12/16 years.
Winner 2011 Lewis Woods.
Under 12 years winner Jack Sheridan.
Most Fish Caught Rebekah O'Donoghue.
Also in the prize's were Tara Sheridan, Mabel O'Donoghue, Oisin Mc Dermot, Lauren Connolly, Marie Connolly & Katie Conroy. A great day was had by all with a large number of fish caught, weighed & released by the young anglers who took part. Well done to all. Thanks to all those who turned up to make the event such a success. Martin Suffin was nominated gilly of the year by Tara Sheridan.
