Pike Angling Festival


Our Annual Easter Festival is going full steam ahead & the club members have been working very hard to ensure everyone really enjoys the weekend. Here is a more detailed list of the prizes & rules.


This is a two day event.

1st Prize €3000 plus Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup.

2nd Prize €2000.

3rd Prize €1250.

Plus ten consolation prizes (minimum value €100)

Entry Fee €60(regardless of age)

Junior Section

1st Prize €200 Sponsored by Noel Daly Tiling Ltd Plus Boyle & District Angling Club Perpetual Shield

2nd Prize €100

3rd Prize €50


Ladies Section

Vauable Ladies consolation prize plus €300.


Club Members

Special prize for paid up members


All anglers are advised to wear life jackets.

All Boats must have suitable holding tanks


Saturday 23rd April : Start at Doon Shore 11am. Finish at Doon Shore 6pm. Check in time 9:30am.

Sunday 24th April : Start at Doon Shore 10am. Finish at Doon Shore 5pm.

Presentation at Doon Shore 6pm.

PADDY SHARKEY MEMORIAL PERPETUAL LOUGH GARA CUP 3rd APRIL 2011‏

Hi All, Sorry it's taking so long updating the blog, hope we won't have any delays from now on. The weather was a bit blustery but fished very well. Most of the fish were caught in shallow water & this caught out a few of us sitting out at 20-30ft :-(. The results were as follows, 1st Ann Conroy (Paddy Sharkey Menorial Perpetual Lough Gara Cup) 2nd Pat Healy (trophie sponsored by Moonstone Jewelers). 3rd John Conlon (trophie sponsored by Moonstone Jewelers). Special ladies prize (sponsored by Deidre Geoghegan), winner Ashley Clarke. Junior winners, 1st Prize (sponsored by Shannon Gaels GAA), winner Kyle Darby. 2nd Prize David Smith 3rd Prize Paddy Sharkey(jnr) 4th Aishling Sharkey. Thanks to everyone who sponsored the prizes for this event. I will upload some Photo's of the event asap.

The Donlon Cup

On sunday the 6th at Drumharlow lake the club held The Donlon Cup Pike angling competition. 23 anglers turn out on the day and 15 fish were landed.

The winner was Joe Mulrennan
2nd was Martin Suffin and
3rd was Joe Tormey.
Thanks to all anglers who fished.


The presentation took place in the Railway bar and thanks to all at the railway bar for a lovely night.

THE NEXT COMPETITION IS SET FOR SUNDAY THE 20TH OF MARCH TO BE FISHED ON LOUGH SKEEN.

This is an open competition, fishing from 11am to 5pm and is boat only. All anglers are welcome.

MORE UPCOMING EVENTS

The club has set dates and Venues for some future events.
The Donnellan Cup, Sunday the 6th of March, at Oakprt Lake. Fishing from 11am to 4pm.
Sunday the 20th of March, Competition on Lough Skeen. Fishing from 11am to 4pm.
The Paddy Sharkey Perpetual Memorial Cup on the 3rd of April on Lough Gara. Entries taken at Templeronan Pier from 10 am. For further details contact Jane on 0868301261.

The club will hold an open competition fishing for the Donnellan on Oakport Lake from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 6th of March 2011.
