Once again we are due to hold our annual Easter Pike Angling Festival and as usual this is set to be a great angling event and a fun weekend out at Lough Key, Boyle.
Prizes to the value of over 10,000 recession -beating Euro are waiting for the winners.
All usual facilities and entertainment such as our own BBQ and refreshments stand, Fishing tackle stands, Partytime DJ plus a few new additions are going to be set up at the Doon shore, Lough Key, Boyle over the Easter weekend.
1st prize for the overall winner Euro 3500.- + Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup for the heaviest fish!
Entry fee: Euro 60 per angler
Boat fishing only (all boats must have suitable holding tanks)

John Keenahan wins the Paddy Sharkey Perpetual Memorial Cup
The Paddy Sharkey Perpetual Memorial Cup was held yesterday on Lough Gara.
The weather was kind and some good fish were caught. It was a great turnout with 69 anglers competing on the day. It seems that this time home advantage somehow must have came into play with many of our own members on the Leaderboard. Here's the results:
The winner was local man John Keenahan with his cracking fish of 23lbs. 8oz.
2nd: "Scottish" John Ferris ( Boyle), 17lbs 8oz
3rd: Patrick Egan (Boyle), 12lbs 6oz.
4th: Bodo Funke (Boyle), 10lbs 6oz.
Joint 5th: Declan Conroy (Boyle) & Ray Gillen (Cliffony) 9lbs. 7 oz.
6th: Mick Flanagan (Mullingar) 7lbs 6 oz.
Ladies section:
1st: Lucy Garvin (Boyle), 12lbs 4oz.
2nd: Helena Mulligan (Ballyglass)1lbs 8oz.
Juniors:
1st: Gary Nicholson (Boyle) 3lbs.
2nd: Daniel Quinn (Boyle) 2lbs.4oz.
Well Done to all of the competitors.
A good night was to be had afterwards in Scanlons Riverside Bar were the presentation took place.
A special Thank you goes to Gerry Quinn and all his staff at Scanlons' Riverside Bar for their hospitality.

Boyle & District Angling Club are seeking to pass a new Club Constitution at a general meeting next month. (Date to be confirmed) Any member who wishes to view or obtain a copy of the newly drafted constitution can do so by attending an open meeting which will take place on Wednesday the 25th of February 2009 in Tawnytaskin School.

Paddy Sharkey Perpetual Memorial Lough Gara Cup
The Paddy Sharkey Perpetual Memorial Cup will be fished for on Sunday 22nd of March on Lough Gara. This is an open pike angling Catch & Release competition. All Anglers welcome.
Entry fee: €20 per Angler
Entries will be taken at Templeronan pier.
Fishing 11am to 6pm
Presentation of all prizes will take place in Scanlon's Riverside Bar at 8.30pm.
